Hybrid Elms (Ulmus procera x Ulmus glabra) Naturally Occurring Richens (1967) recorded a single specimen, a putative hybrid between the above species, from North Weald Bassett. Multiple Hybrids R. H. Richens reported the possibility of Multiple Hybrids occurring, i.e. a cross between a fertile hybrid and another. One I have found at Courtland Drive, Chigwell may be such a tree. The leaf resembles the American Rock Elm (Ulmus thomasii); it is possibly a hybrid between English Elm and the Hybrid Elm at this site. A leaf is illustrated on p. 17 Data for the following five plates of elm leaves.
