There is still much to be done before the county can be considered to have been thoroughly investigated for its bee fauna. COLLETIDAE SUBFAMILY COLLETINAE Genus: Colletes mining bees. Six of the eight British species are recorded for Essex and we have recent records for all of these. Colletes daviesanus Smith Probably widespread bur local with records from the southern part of the county at Wanstead Flats (coll. M Hanson), Broom Hill (West Tilbury), Linford Sand Pit, Mill Wood Pit and the northern part of the county at Little Hallingbury (C Watson) and Sible Hedingham. Nicholson (1928) notes the species from Billericay and the Colchester district. C. fodiens (Geoffroy in Fourcroy) Widely recorded in the Thurrock area with records from Broom Hill (West Tilbury), Dolphin Quarry Purfleet, Ferry Fields (Tilbury), Linford Sand Pit and the Mill Wood Pit area.
