96 The Essex Naturalist L. (Evylaeus) calceatum (Scopoli) = cylindricum (Fabricius) Nicholson (1928) notes the species at bramble and other flowers, common everywhere. This is probably true today, the hee occurring in a variety of habitats including gardens. There are 2.3 recent records widely distributed across the county. L. (Evylaeus) fulvicorne (Kirby) Nicholson (1928) notes the species from "Billericay, Hale End, etc.", locally common. We have recent records only from chalk at Grays Chalk Quarry and Mill Wood Pit in Thurrock. L. (Evylaeus) malachurus (Kirby) - Notable B Listed by Falk (1991) for S Essex without further details. This species seems to be quite common in the county with recent records from 35 localities, mostly but not exclusively near the coast. L. (Evylaeus) minutissimum (Kirby) Recorded from the Colchester district by Harwood (1884) without further detail and Nicholson (1928) gives the species as common. There are recent records from only eight widely distributed localities, but it is probably more common. L. (Evylaeus) nitidiusculum (Kirby) Recorded from the Colchester district by Harwood (1884) without further detail. Nicholson (1928) notes it from Billericay and the Colchester district. We have only a single recent record, from Walton Naze undercliffs in 1992.
