The first Essex record since 1983.
2137 Great Brocade Eurois occulta L. Easily the best year for this species with
12 moths from eight localities spread evenly over the county, from 19th
June to 3rd September. There have been a total of 15 reported from St
Osyth since 1983 (R. W. Arthur).
2138 Green Arches Anaplectoides prasina D. 6k S. Saffron Walden, 13th July
(A. M. Emmet). The north west corner of Essex continues to yield the
occasional record and has done fairly consistently since 1973. Usually two
per year are recorded at Saffron Walden.
2140 White-marked Cerastis leucographa D. & S. Frinton-on-Sea, 28th April
(B. Lock). First Essex record since 1906.
2184 Northern Drab Orthosia opima Hb. Fingringhoe Wick N.R., three to
mercury vapour light, 11th May (B. Goodey), and St Osyth, where it has
occurred in every year since 1986 (R. W. Arthur)

2323 Reddish Light Arches Apamea sublustris Esp. Saffron Walden, 14th July
(A. M. Emmet). Third Essex record and the second this century.
2365 Fisher's Estuarine Moth Gortyna borelii Pierr. Dovercourt, 8th September
(P. Smith). The only record away from its breeding localities in the
Hamford Water area, about four miles to the south.
2371 Brown-veined Wainscot Archanara dissoluta Treit. St Osyth, 19th August
(R. W. Arthur). 12 record from this site since 1983.
