PREFACE TO SECOND EDITION.
I hasten to fulfil the promise made in the con-
cluding paragraph of the preface to the First
Edition. Indeed, my main object from the first
was to produce a volume which should be useful
to the general body of Forest visitors. I have
been able to add somewhat in this edition to the
lists of birds and animals.
