and he illustrated this description with a small black and white illustration. I looked at the Chapman and Andre map of 1777 and this shows a field of regularly spaced trees, rather orchard like just east of the hall and rather near what was obviously the upper reaches of a Saltmarsh. Alook at the modern O.S. Map (at TL 882027) was not very promising - the largish wood due west of Mundon Hall was shown (as Mundon Furze) but nothing just east of Mundon Hall itself and by this time the Saltmarsh had obviously gone as well. I wondered actually whether to bother to visit the site, but I thought I had better just in case anything was visible.
