'notable' species (legally protected, BAP, RDB and indicator species). In order to take account of these notable species, it is essential to hold accurate data; if we don't what there is or where to find it, we can't effectively protect it from potentially inappropriate management practises. The nature reserves that are having management plans written in the near future are listed in Table 1. The Trust aims to undertake relevant surveys on these reserves to ensure the land will be managed sympathetically. We are looking to the skills of various other organisations to add value to our in-house surveying and to support the recording on these sites. If you have any data or would like to contribute towards the development of the management plans by providing biological records or reviewing management plans, we would like to hear from you. Likewise, if you know that a site is of interest for a particular species or group, please let us know so that we can direct our recording and monitoring efforts accordingly.
