Park Heritage Status The following is a selected list of parks from the English Heritage - Register of Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest Part 15. Essex published in 1987 with later revisions: Audlev End New Hall Blake Hall Quendon Boreliam House St Osyth Braxted II* Spains Hall II* Copped Hall II* Thorndon II* Hylands II* Weald Park II Langleys II Wivenhoe II For a very few, such as Audley End, Hylands. Thorndon and Weald, the park is still a recognisable entity with a wood-pasture landscape. For others, such as Boreham, the house now sits in a much reduced parkland setting with the remainder of the park being fanned. Virtually nothing remains of the park of New Hall. I suspect the list needs updating with amendments and additions. Royal Parks The parks listed below have al some stage been royal parks, some - such as Havering, for their entire existence (1157- 1652)-others, such as Audley End only briefly (1668- 1701). Fairmead may have existed for as little as thirteen years before disparking, Waltham lasted a mere 6 years from 1542-1548.
