Skreens, Roxwell
One of the lost mansions of Essex, Skreens was demolished c.1920. The estate had been the seat of the
Bramston family since 1635. Sir John Bramston was appointed Lord Chief Justice of England in that year, the
Bramston's living here until 1908. In the photograph the original house is the central block; the wings were
added as late as 1911. (Photograph 1911).
