Some of the above records show how common this species is, but we still know very little about its habits and positive identification in the field remains something of a problem. Wc hope to gather data and specimens during 1999 for exhibiting at the next Moth Group meeting, which hopefully should help observers get to grips with this often ignored moth. Searches in the Danbury area have been unsuccessful, so it was particularly nice to find a specimen sent with a batch of micros from the Epping area. 1 DBR 2399 Bordered Sallow Pyrrhia umbra Hufn. An exceptional year. Two Jaywick traps yielded a total of 55 specimens (J. Young and J. Wilde). It also appeared al Langenhoe, 21 June (H. Owen); Mashbury on 5 July and 11 July (M. Tarrant); and Thevdon Bois on 10 July, 24 July and 31 July (J.G. Green). 18 DBR 2400 Scarce Bordered Straw Helicoverpa armigera Hb.
