Tim Pyner accompanied me on 16th March 2000.
Recording took the form of searching each anthill for the different species present. To obtain some
assessment of cover a visual estimate was recorded using Domin ratings (key below) for the bryo-
phyte flora on the anthill, both in total and for each species individually. Notes were also made if a
species showed a particular preference for only part of the anthill. Table 2 lists the Domin scale for
percentage cover;
