Wed Aug 6th 2025 20:00-23:00.  Tiptree Heath mothing session
Mothing session with Colchester Natural History Society and Essex Moth Group. Tiptree Heath, Colchester CO5 0PT. Tiptree Heath is a small fragment of what was once a much larger area of heathland that stretched from Maldon to Messing. For such a small area it holds a wealth of wildlife. The area is actively managed to enhance this. Moth trapping here in the past has always been very productive with a number of scarce and attractive species being caught. Please bring a seat and a torch with you and a wide-brimmed hat to protect your eyes from the bright light that is used to attract the moths. Meet at the Tiptree Heath car park on the B1022 Tiptree to Maldon road at about 800 metres to the Maldon side of Tiptree
