The Rhododendron Leafhopper Graphocephala fennahi is a true bug of the Cicadellidae family (leafhoppers), and as you can see from the photo, is strikingly patterned in green and red, and is very easy to identify.

Species account
Originally from the USA, it was introduced to Europe early in the last century, and has now spread over southern England. The adult and nymph feed on the sap of rhododendrons.
The adult, 7-9mm long, can be found on rhododendrons from late spring to late autumn, and overwinters as eggs.
