Species text
The predatory rove beetle Achenium humile is widespread but local in the southern half of England, and has also been recorded from North East England. It has been found in broad-leaved woodland, fields, sand dunes, coastal marshes, alluvial flats and probably other situations. It has been found under the bark of dead wood, under stones, in moss, at the roots of grasses, muddy dyke sides and in a clay bank on a sand dune (Hyman & Parsons, 1994). References
