Species text
The ground beetle Anthracus (Acupalpus) consputus is widespread but local in England and also recorded in South Wales. It is probably predatory and appears to prefer sparsely vegetated ground on soft soil or mud near water, often occurring under stones in gravel pits and coastal habitats. Management should aim at maintaining open conditions and encouraging early successional stages. References
