Species text
This is a small metallic black ground beetle with numerous lighter markings. It is an easterly species found as far north as Yorkshire usually near the sea, with a large proportion of records from the Thames estuary and Essex coast. It inhabits well-vegetated, marshy areas such as fens, estuaries and saltmarshes (Luff 1998). References
