Species text
Campiglossa malaris is a small picture winged fly with brown and white mottled wings. It is very local in Kent, but P.R. Harvey has collected the species in several localities in south Essex near the Thames since 2001. It is associated with ragworts, mainly Senecio erucifolius, but also Senecio jacobaea growing on chalk grassland, coastal shingle and other dry sites. It is believed to breed in the flower heads.
