Species text
Cryptocephalus bilineatus is a small black and yellow leaf beetle usually associated with kidney vetch Anthyllis vulneraria in chalk grassland. It is found in southern and south-eastern England and was found at Belton Hills in Leigh in 2001. There is only one previous Essex record, an old 1903 one for the 'Essex coast' by Harwood (1903). It may perhaps be associated at the Leigh site with Meadow Vetchling Lathyrus pratensis (P. Hammond, pers. comm.). References
