There are very few modern records, with records confined to the Holland-on-Sea area and from Fingringhoe Marshes, then in 2024 at Abbotts Hall EWT Reserve. The presence of populations of this much declined bee needs investigation and conservation action. The bee is closely associated with Fabaceae such as Lotus corniculatus, Vicia cracca, V. sepium, Lathyrus tuberosus, L. sylvestris, Medicago sativa, Trifolium repens, T. pratense. David Baldock has recorded a close association with Meadow Vetchling Lathyrus pratensis as its favoured pollen resource (Bees of Surrey, 2008) and good stands of this plant should be examined for the species in Essex. The species nests in both firm, level soil and in cliffs. References
