Species text
This is a small fly that has been recorded from coastal marshes in England, South Wales and Scotland (Dumfriesshire). It is highly localised on coasts with about ten known post-1960 sites. There is one previous Essex record, collected by P.R. Harvey, from Aveley Bay in 2000. It is associated with coastal levels and marshes a short distance inland where there has been some salinity in the past. The species has been reared from galls on Scirpus maritimus in Israel and this is probably the host plant in Britain. The status in a forthcoming review has been revised from Vulnerable in Shirt (1987). References
