This weevil is widespread but local in England, and also recorded in South Wales. It has been recorded from grassland, field margins and possibly other disturbed ground. It is phytophagous associated with musk thistle Carduus nutans, but at the Buckingham Hill Road Sandpit site it was found on Spear Thistle Carduus vulgare and Slender histle Carduus tenuiflorus. This is the first record for Essex (P. Hammond, pers. comm.). References
