Species text
Haematopota bigoti is a coastal horse fly, first recognised as British from specimens taken at Walton-on-the-Naze in 1907. It has been recorded more widely as far north as southwestern Scotland (Stubbs & Drake, 2001). Although there are scattered coastal records in Essex, it is not commonly found. References
