Species text
In Hyman & Parsons (1992) Hypera ononidis is stated to have only been recorded between East Sussex and South Devon, and recently noted from just one vice-county. It occurs on coastal dunes, cliffs and shingle. It is phytophagous, usually associated with common restharrow Ononis repens. The larvae probably feed externally on the foliage of the foodplant.
