Species text
Old records indicate that this species was formerly widely distributed in southern England and recorded as far north as South Lincolnshire, but there are few modern records, with recent records only from Grays, Essex and Mildenhall, Suffolk (Cox, 2007). The only other Essex record is one at Gt Baddow in 1967 by P.M. Hammond (pers. comm.). The flea beetle is phytogenous, associated with mint Mentha, particularly water mint M. aquatica, but also on other species such as spearmint M. spicata and peppermint M. x piperata. The beetle might also occur on gypsyworts Lycopus and germanders Teucrium. References
