Species text
Microplontus (Ceutorhynchus) campestris is a black weevil patterned with white which is widespread but local in England, and also recorded in parts of Wales. It occurs on disturbed ground, roadside verges and field margins. The species is phytophagous, associated with ox-eye daisy Leucanthemum vulgare. Some grazing, rotational cutting or other disturbance, such as rotovation, is necessary to maintain open conditions and encourage early successional stages (Hyman & Parsons, 1992). References
