Species text
The large rove beetle Ocypus fuscatus is widespread but local in England and southern Scotland. This species is found in grassland, downland, fens and possibly woodland, but it has also been recorded in coastal situations on alluvial or sandy soils. It has been found in dry dung, at roots, in plant litter, under stones and flints, and also recorded from fungi on elms (Hyman & Parson, 1994). References
