Species text
The species has a widespread but patchy and scattered distribution across most of Britain. In Essex it is very scarce, with a few scattered records from acid grassland, heathland and old grasslands.The spider lives within the litter layer of grasslands and heathlands, ambushing soft bodied prey. In the north many records are associated with stony habitats, where the spider occurs under stones (Harvey et al., 2002). References
