Species text
This ladybird is widespread but local in Great Britain, and not known from Wales. This species is difficult to identify and may be confused with other species of Scymnus. Consequently, the exact status of this species is hard to assess. There are a handful of previous Essex records, of which one other is post-1970 (P. Hammond, pers. comm.). It occurs in wetlands, including fens and wet woodland. It is associated with willows, sallows and poplars and probably predatory. References
