This small brown weevil is widespread but local in England, although not recorded in East Anglia. Also noted in parts of Wales. It occurs on coastal undercliffs, calcareous grassland and possibly coastal shingle and quarries near the coast. It is phytophagous, the larvae probably feed on the roots of plants. Adults are associated with common bird's-foot-trefoil Lotus corniculatus and with narrow-leaved bird's-foot-trefoil L. glaber. In unstable cliff habitats, occasional slippages are necessary to maintain habitat continuity. Occasional disturbance of grassland may be needed to maintain open conditions. References
