Species text
Old records suggest that this weevil was recorded throughout southern England and with a scattered distribution north to South Lancashire, but in Hyman & Parsons (1992) it was only recently recorded from five vice-counties, in southern or south-eastern England. The species is phytophagous, associated with selfheal Prunella vulgaris. It is threatened by improvement of grassland by reseeding or the application of fertilisers, changes in grazing or cutting regimes, or by conversion to arable agriculture and development. Disturbance on a rotational basis is needed to maintain open conditions. References
