Species text
Stratiomys longicornis has scattered records mainly in south-east England (especially the Thames Marshes) and north to Lincolnshire. It is infrequent and probably declining with about a dozen known post 1960 sites, mainly for the Thames Marshes. Most of the remaining sites are under some degree of threat, especially the Thames Marshes, where strongly brackish pools and ditches are increasingly becoming lost following seawall construction (Falk, 1991a). It is almost certainly strongly associated with saline pools in saltmarshes and brackish pools and ditches on coastal levels. References
