Essex Post-1969 record
Species text
Tychius pusillus is widespread but local in southern England. This is only the second record for Essex (P. Hammond, pers. comm). It occurs in grassland, field margins, road-side verges and disturbed ground. It is phytophagous, associated with lesser trefoil Trifolium dubium and possibly with other species of clover. On the Continent, this species has also been associated with hop trefoil T. campestre and strawberry clover T. fragiferum (Hyman & Parsons, 1992). Disturbance, such as rotovation, on a rotational basis, is needed to maintain open conditions. References
