Species text
Pogonus littoralis is a very local metallic green or bronze ground beetle found on saltmarshes and estuaries, usually among rotting seaweed or under driftwood on the strandline. It is recorded from the southern and eastern coasts of England from Lincolnshire to South Wales, but most post-1970 records in Luff (1998) are on the east coast. Threats include the loss of saltmarsh through reclamation, erosion and the construction of sea defences. References
