Species text
The east coast populations of Pseudeuophrys obsoleta were originally described as Euophrys browningi and considered to be long isolated and separate to the mid-European E. obsoleta (Locket, Millidge & Merrett 1974). However subsequent opinion considers the populations to be conspecific. Although proposed as a UKBAP species, it was eventually omitted from the list (Anon 1999) even as a Species Statement, possibly in error. It was added to the UKBAP as a priority species in the recent review. Most recent records are from Essex, where the spider has been found on shingle and shell shingle between Walton Naze and Foulness. References
