Thanks for the comments Graham, you may well be right about the deceased being weakened by the weather conditions, it does not appear to have shown up in the other inhabitants of the pond. I will have a look around web for further info.The rest have now left the pond and dispersed into the garden leaving a huge amount of spawn. Peter.
